Following up on two previous CRN-I scientific symposia held in 2010 and 2011 which addressed the two primary goals of the Codex Alimentarius and nutrition issues including health claims, respectively, the 2012 symposium explored the scientific basis and approaches for setting nutrient reference values for non-essential nutrients with biological effects—bioactives—with a focus on omega-3 fatty acids, lutein and zeaxanthin.
