Roberto Marchioli, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.F.A., is Head of the Laboratory of Clinical Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Disease, Consorzio Mario Negri Sud and Italy Director, Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC) Research Center, Rome, Italy. Dr. Marchioli earned his Medical School degree and his Board Certification in Internal Medicine from the University of Chieti. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology from the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, Milan, and his MPH in Clinical Epidemiology from the Consorzio Mario Negri Sud, Santa Maria Imbaro. He has served as the Director of the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC) Research Center, Rome, Italy since 2010. In 2009, he received the award for distinguished research on n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and sudden cardiac death from the International Society of Atherosclerosis. In 2008, he was named a Fellow of the American Heart Association. He has been involved in numerous collaborations, including: Gruppo Italiano Studio Sopravvivenza Infarto miocardico (GISSI); Cholesterol Trialists’ Collaboration (CTC); Antithrombotic Trialists’ Collaboration (ATTC); European Collaboration on Low-dose Aspirin (ECLAP); Gruppo Italiano Malattie Mieloproliferative Croniche (GIMMC); Società Italiana di Farmacia Ospedaliera (SIFO); Harvard School of Public Health, Myeloproliferative Disorders Research Consortium (MPD-RC); and Argentina, United States and Italy Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Network (A-UNICORN).
